You Have A SuperPower, But Will You Use It?

You can’t do big things if you’re distracted by small things

Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort. – Paul J. Meyer

The concept of always being reachable makes us present nowhere. – Peter Arvai

The mind is like water. When it’s turbulent, it’s challenging to see. When it’s calm, everything becomes clear. – Inspired by Prasad Mahes

On Friday night, I went bowling with my A-team - my management team.

After one week of an intense company strategy retreat, we needed to let our hair down and have some fun.

And have fun, we did!

I wasn’t particularly good at it, as I was a relative newbie. However, I noticed something interesting.

Sometimes when there were 10 pins, I’d miss the target completely.

But once it was down to 1, I was able to focus on it and knock it down - despite it being the significantly harder shot to make.

I did this multiple times to the amazement of others.

Then one person said, “Chibuzor can focus deeply once all his attention is on one pin. When there are many, his attention is divided.

There is a lesson in there, even for me.

In today’s world, we have so many distractions, such as social media, TV, and a generally fast-moving society.

In such a world, the focus becomes a superpower.

Those who can harness it can go much farther and achieve much more than most, simply by dedicating their time and attention to one thing.

Little wonder we know many billionaires and unicorn companies for doing one thing extremely well - before diversifying to others.

You have this superpower. So do I.

The power of choice is one that we all have. The question is what we do with it.

Self-Reminder:

The truth is: You can’t do big things if you’re distracted by small things.

Maximize yourself. Stay focused.

Have a great week!
