Do This To Succeed At Anything In Life

Because excellence, is a habit.

In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently. - Tony Robbins

Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out. -Robert Collier

You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine. -John C. Maxwell

The big red button.

The one that once you press it, all your dreams come true. That's what most humans naturally desire. A magic pill.

That is a fool's dream. In the real world, there is only one magic trick.

Your Habits.

Every success (and failure) I have ever had, came from a life-time of habit, of small, tiny actions in a particular direction.

In my first year of university I asked the best graduating student of the outgoing set his tips to get a First Class degree, just like he did.

His answer was simply for me to cultivate some good habits and maintain them throughout school.

What were they? To attend all lectures daily, write my own notes, attend all tutorial classes, write legibly in exams, and study for one hour daily.

I applied these habits consistently and I got the same results as he did.

In my business, we have consistently shown up every day with the right attitude and energy to add value to others, with a curious mindset to always ask why, and with the humility to learn.

Despite the ups and downs, we have consistently made progress and growth.

In fact, the times our growth slowed down and we stumbled, were the times we strayed from the habits that got us there in the first place.

The truth is: you are what you repeatedly do.

Your current life is a result of your previous choices. If you want something different, start choosing differently.

My Current Choices

I want to be healthy, and so I choose to walk 10,000 steps daily, and eat clean.

I want to add value to the world, and so I choose to read daily, to think, to write and to engage people.

I want to be wealthy, and so I choose to give more than I take, to save and invest both in times of little and in times of plenty, to stay away from debt and to live within my means without caring what anyone might say or think.

I want to have happy, successful children and so I choose to be active in their lives, show up for them daily, and do my best to live by example, not just by what I say.

There are more, but you get the idea.

Famous Bruce Lee Quote

The Magic of Compounding Interest

The interesting thing about habits is that the more you practice them, the more the effects multiply.

Little wonder Bruce Lee comments on fearing more the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times than the man who has practiced 10,000 different kicks once each.

Compounding happens in finance, as well as in self-improvement.

That is why Albert Einstein once called compound interest, the eight wonder of the world.

In the present it might look like there is not much difference as you practice it. It often only becomes apparent when you look back after many years.

Thus you could start exercising and eating healthy for months without any visible changes.

And then suddenly, the weight starts dropping off daily. However many would have given up before then, if they were not patient enough to make it a lifelong habit.
